IXL Personalized Learning Website
IXL Personalized Learning Website
Grade Level: K-12
IXL is an online learning tool that uses a comprehensive curriculum to develop grade-based skill practices and games. This website can be accessed with or without a membership. However, if you do not have a membership there is a daily practice limit.
Objective: Students will receive individualized guidance and real-time analytics, which meet the unique needs of each learner.
Each grade features a different number of skill practices, based on the grade level curriculum, that are broad concept topic based. For example, the topic of Counting and Number patterns has 32 different subtopic skills that can be practiced.
This is an example of what one of the skills practices looks like:
The practices track how many questions the user has answered, the time the user has spent on the practice, and their “SmartScore” out of 100. A SmartScore is a certain number of points allotted per question that add up to 100. When you get a question correct, SmartScore points are added. When you get a question wrong, SmartScore points are taken away. Once 100 Smart Score points are accumulated, the practice ends.
When you complete the skill practices you uncover hidden treasures. In other words, by completing skills practices, you win awards on the IXL website.
The website also features games that are grade-level appropriate.
